California EPR Registration Deadline Set for September 5

eprblocks24July 30, 2025 | As the state of California moves forward with implementing its extended producer responsibility (EPR) law for packaging, The Toy Association™ is reminding members that the first major compliance deadline is approaching on September 5, 2025.

Any company that sells, distributes, or ships single-use packaging materials into California is required to register with Circular Action Alliance (CAA) — the state’s designated producer responsibility organization (PRO) — by this date. The registration portal will officially open on August 1.

To support producers through the process, CAA is hosting a series of onboarding sessions to provide a comprehensive overview of the new requirements. These sessions will cover the basics of EPR, the role of the PRO, and specific producer responsibilities, including registration, reporting, and fee payment. Additional guidance is also available through CAA’s Producer Resource Center, which offers tools and information to help companies navigate their obligations and maintain compliance under the law.

Producers with questions are encouraged to reach out to producer.support@circularaction.org.

The Toy Association will continue to keep the industry apprised of developments regarding state extended producer responsibility (EPR) laws.
