The Toy Association™ to Spotlight Industry Advocacy & Toy Safety at Astra's Marketplace & Academy

marketplace and academy logo 2025April 29, 2025 | The Toy Association™ will host two educational sessions at Astra’s Marketplace & Academy, providing the specialty toy community with insights into the challenges, opportunities, and regulatory changes impacting the industry in 2025 and beyond. Both sessions will take place on Sunday, June 1 in Room 225B at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Attendees will hear directly from senior Toy Association leadership, gaining valuable updates on advocacy efforts, policy changes, and year-round resources designed to help specialty businesses thrive in an evolving marketplace. Session topics include:

  • “Toys & Play 2025 – Toy Association Initiatives on Behalf of the Toy Industry” (Sunday, June 1 at 10 a.m.)
    The toy industry shares a common interest – bringing fun and safe play to kids and families. But sometimes obstacles get in the way – from import tariffs to new legislation, to emerging safety concerns – and that’s where The Toy Association comes in. As the North American trade association representing hundreds of manufacturer and retailer members of all sizes, The Toy Association has been tirelessly working for over 100 years to ensure toy businesses are protected and children’s toys remain safe. Hear from president & CEO of The Toy Association, Greg Ahearn, as he takes a deep dive into The Toy Association’s recent advocacy activities and upcoming events and opportunities for the specialty toy community.

  • “Toy Safety 2025… and Beyond” (Sunday, June 1 at 11 a.m.)
    Hear from The Toy Association’s Chief Policy Officer Kathrin Belliveau on key toy safety topics for 2025 and learn how to access free, year-round resources to help families ensure safe and fun play at home – including tips on choosing age-appropriate toys, advice for first-time parents, what to know about “smart” (tech integrated) toys, summer outdoor play safety advice, and much more.
