Spin Master Completes Melissa & Doug Acquisition
Spin Master has completed its previously announced acquisition of Melissa & Doug for $950 million. The strategic transaction expands Spin Master's reach in specialty retail and e-commerce channels and provides an evergreen product portfolio with a diverse revenue base and significant long-term growth opportunities.
Build-A-Bear Workshop to Send Bear to Space
A fifth crew member will join Axiom Mission 3 (Ax-3) astronauts in a planned launch to space on January 17 — GiGi the teddy bear. GiGi will launch to space as the Ax-3 mission's zero-gravity indicator wearing Axiom Space's next-generation spacesuit. GiGi's first mission was Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2) in May, marking the first time Build-A-Bear sent a furry friend to space, and once again, both companies will engage youth through STEAM education and outreach.
LEGO Launches Braille Bricks in New Languages
In response to global demand and its commitment to develop more inclusive learning experiences through play, The LEGO Group released its LEGO Braille Bricks – Play with Braille product in three new languages: German, Italian, and Spanish. Already available in English and French, each set includes both braille and printed letters, numbers, and symbols on each brick to make learning braille accessible to everyone.
Exploding Kittens Unveils Largest Spring Release in Company History
The gaming and entertainment company is launching four new card games this spring, featuring fast-paced, easy-to-learn gameplay for players of all ages. “That Escalated Quickly” is available now, while “Power Hungry Pets,” “Danger Danger,” and “Hoppy Salmon” will hit store shelves on February 18.
Aurora World, Peanuts Worldwide Ink Partnership for Plush & Toys
Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the Peanuts gang are joining Aurora World’s slate of licensed product offerings. The collaboration between Aurora and Peanuts Worldwide will bring a new line of plush and toy products to major retailers and specialty stores nationwide in June.
Stern Pinball Launches JAWS Pinball Games
Stern Pinball’s new JAWS-themed pinball games will be on display at the company’s booth at CES 2024 (No. 16254) beginning today. The game will be available in pro, premium, and limited editions, and will immerse players into the trilogy with new mechanical features inspired by iconic movie moments and state-of-the-art technology.
University Games Acquires The Learning Journey
University Games has completed its 14th acquisition, and one of its largest to date, with The Learning Journey International, maker of educational, sensory, active play, electronic, and construction toys. JB and Debbie Frere, The Learning Journey's founders, will continue to manage The Learning Journey out of Phoenix, Arizona.
