New York State Toy Day Connects TIA Members with State Legislature

New York State Toy DayMay 31, 2016 | Toy industry representatives traveled to Albany, New York on May 24th to participate in the Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) first New York State Toy Day, where they met with key lawmakers to discuss critical issues impacting the toy industry.

Over the course of the day, TIA staff and representatives from large manufacturers, small businesses, specialty retailers, and others met with members of the New York legislature, including Senate Majority Leader John J. Flanagan. Participants informed Senate staff about their companies and products, their commitment to safety, and the challenges that toy companies of all sizes face, including recent chemical regulation in upstate counties, economic hurdles and more.

“The group’s diversity helped demonstrate to key policymakers about how large, assorted and passionate the toy industry really is,” said Owen Caine, TIA director of state government affairs. “We left these meetings knowing that legislators now have a better understanding of how state regulations impact the industry and the positive effect toy companies have on New York’s economy.”
