Record-Breaking Toy Donations at Toy Fair Help Nearly 50,000 Children in Need

February 26, 2016 | The Toy Industry Foundation (TIF) has announced that a record-breaking number of nearly 50,000 playthings were donated to The Toy Bank at the closing of the 113th North American International Toy Fair. The items were valued at half a million dollars!

More than 80 Toy Bank volunteers swept aisle after aisle on February 16th, gathering tens of thousands of donated action figures, outdoor toys, ride-ons, dollhouses, board games, and more from hundreds of generous exhibitors. Toys are currently being separated and sorted, and will be sent to TIF’s national partner, CASA for Children in foster care, as well as a dozen New York-based charities.

“It’s exciting to share that almost 50,000 disadvantaged children will benefit from the generosity of this year’s Toy Fair exhibitors,” said Elizabeth Max, TIF program manager. “Each toy serves as a reminder that we’re here for them and that they matter.”

Toy Fair is the Toy Bank’s largest annual toy collection, but strives all year to serve millions of children in need through toy donationsfinancial contributions, and volunteer efforts

On April 4th and 5th, TIF will host back-to-back military toy distribution events at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, HI, and USAG Hawaii CYS Services in Schofield, Oahu, HI. The magic of play will be provided to more than 4,000 children on the bases.
