Save the Date: RILA Retail Sustainability & Environmental Compliance Conference

July 21, 2016 | Hundreds of sustainability professionals from retailers and consumer product companies will gather in Washington, DC this fall to attend the Retail Sustainability & Environmental Compliance Conference 2016, taking place September 27-30.

Hosted by the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), the conference will take place at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center and will connect retailers and brands with service providers for four days of networking and learning about evolving consumer behavior and its impact on the retail industry.

From flash talks and case studies to impact sessions and topical workshops, event programming will shed light on new and existing paths in sustainability and environmental compliance. Session topics will include:

  • Sustainability 101, a workshop covering issues in sustainability such as making the business case, connecting to the core purpose of your company, the maturity arch of sustainability in retail, metrics for measuring progress, engaging buying and sourcing teams, collaborating with external stakeholders, working with operations, and engaging suppliers.
  • Chasing Generator Status: Clarifying Definitions, Examining Recent Trends, a case study focusing on operational challenges and enforcement risks associated with determining the correct generator status; new rules from EPA will be incorporated.
  • Innovating for the Future: A Different Look at Sustainability, a workshop to help retailers prepare for the future by mitigating risk and finding opportunities for growth and innovation in an increasingly complex and uncertain operating environment.
  • Don’t Jeopardize Your Compliance: Product Take-Back Programs, an impact session that will use the Jeopardy-style format to have a friendly game show competition between groups of attendees using questions and answers related to all aspects of waste take-back programs.

For the past seven years, RILA's Retail Sustainability & Environmental Compliance Conference has reached across all components of retail sustainability, connecting the industry and enabling evolution and innovation. Senior executives from large retail and consumer goods companies annually attend to learn more about their areas of responsibility, including environmental compliance, corporate social responsibility, waste & recycling,  communications & reporting, real estate/facilities, merchandising/sourcing, logistics/supply chain, marketing and PR, and government affairs.

Registration for the conference is now open; Toy Industry Association (TIA) members are eligible for the discounted RILA member registration rate. To obtain the registration code, please contact akaufman@toyassociation.org. The code will be available in the coming weeks.
