TIF Summer Campaigns Aim to Reach More Than 1 Million Kids in Need

July 15, 2016 | The Toy Industry Foundation’s (TIF) biggest toy collection of the year, the 2016 Summer Toy Drive, is in full swing and welcoming product donations from youth entertainment companies through Labor Day weekend. TIF’s goal for the drive is to bring summertime play to 1 million children in need, including those who are who are sick, suffering, in foster care, living on U.S. military bases or experiencing other hardships.

Toy manufacturers, retailers, distributors and importers can help put smiles on the faces of kids by donating outdoor toys, plush, books, arts & crafts, and other toy and youth entertainment items to TIF’s Toy Bank.

Since kicking off on June 1st, the Summer Toy Drive has collected more than $1 million in brand new toys from generous donors that will reach 55,000 kids.

“We are counting on industry support to create wonderful memories for 1 million kids in need from coast to coast this summer,” said Elizabeth Max, TIF program manager. “Every donated toy provides a child in need the opportunity to play.”

The Foundation has also launched “$100for100,” a new campaign in honor of the Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) 100th anniversary.

“As we say ‘Happy Birthday, TIA!’ throughout 2016, we’re calling on TIA member companies to donate at least $100 to commemorate the Association’s 100 years of inspiring worldwide play,” said Max.  “One hundred dollars can help us provide toys to 600 kids. Our goal is to raise $100,000 and reach 600,000 kids through this exciting new initiative!”

TIF recognizes all donors on the TIF website. Donors may email Elizabeth Max (646.454.4851) if they would like to receive a Toy Bank supporter badge to place on their own websites.
