Now Available for Members: NPD’s 2017 Global Toy Market Overview

August 28, 2017 | The Toy Association has made available to members 2017 data on the global toy market prepared by The NPD Group – a value-added benefit for companies interested in expanding internationally.

The report shares the latest available 2017 data on global toy sales, including sales growth by country, global toy performance by super-category, and top properties by country, among other metrics, for 11 countries covered by NPD. The overview includes NPD’s toy trend observations and global sales growth expectations for 2017. It also reviews specific country toy market information from a 2016 report published by NPD and the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI) that included a deep-dive analysis to help toy companies address international opportunities.

Global toy sales grew by 3 percent from January to June 2017, led by double-digit increases in Mexico and Russia, according to NPD. NPD’s Global Toys footprint covers Australia, Benelux (Belgium and Netherlands), Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States. NPD estimates toy sales across the 11 regions it tracks to rise approximately 4 percent for the full year.

The presentation was introduced by NPD in June to ICTI members at their Annual General Meeting in Sydney, Australia and is now available upon request to eligible Toy Association members. Members may contact Anne McConnell, senior director of market research & data strategy at The Toy Association, for the report.
