U.S., China, and European Union to Discuss “Safe Products for All” at Trilateral Summit

June 11, 2018 | The 6th United States-China-European Union Product Safety Summit will take place June 26 in Bethesda, MD.  The theme of the meeting is “Safe Products for All”; industry stakeholders are invited to attend the public portion of the summit following a closed meeting held by regulators.

Hosted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Department of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, and the European Commission, the summit is designed to enhance trilateral cooperation among the three product safety regulators. A representative of The Toy Association will be in attendance during the public sessions.

CPSC chair Ann Marie Buerkle will kick off the public portion of the summit at 1:30 p.m. with a keynote address. Following Buerkle’s remarks, three panel presentations will take place on emerging hazards, the safety challenges presented by direct-to-consumer cross-border e-commerce, and best practices within the trilateral cooperation framework. The summit will close at 6 p.m.
