Save the Date for The Toy Foundation’s Inaugural ‘Play Your Part Florida’ Event on April 8
March 4, 2019 | Hundreds of underprivileged children in South Florida will get to experience a special day of toys and play during The Toy Foundation’s (TTF) inaugural Play Your Part Florida volunteer event, taking place on Monday, April 8. Play Your Part Florida, now the Foundation’s newest location in the series, will be held in partnership with Junior Achievement of South Florida at its Coconut Creek, FL headquarters from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Volunteer registration is now open.
Play Your Part brings toy industry professionals together to positively impact children in need by either volunteering, donating product, or by sponsoring a portion of the event. Children in attendance are treated to an afternoon of play with various activities, DJ entertainment, and snacks – and get to take home brand-new toys and games.
Toy professionals can participate in Play Your Part Florida in a variety of ways:
- Toy companies and staff can host a game or activity station (10 available) and/or become an Open Heart, Big Heart, or Premier sponsor;
- Industry volunteers can offer a few hours of their time at the event to fill gift bags with donated toys; write heartfelt letters of comfort and support for each child’s bag; help distribute toys for boys and girls at special toy distribution tables; or check in colleagues, hand out t-shirts, and help serve snacks and drinks to fellow volunteers;
- Companies may donate toys of all kinds including action figures, board games, craft kits, dolls, games, puzzles, sports toys, and more for children ages 5 to 12. These toys will be given to each child at the event and used to fill gift bags which will later be given to families in need throughout Florida. The toys will help children in need and their families celebrate birthdays, holidays, ceremonies, special occasions, and more.
“The Foundation’s successful Play Your Part events are a rewarding way for the toy industry to give back to those who need it most,” said Elizabeth Max, TTF’s senior foundation manager. “We are thrilled to be able to expand to Florida and we encourage those professionals who are local to the area to join in on the fun! It will be a great day connecting with kids who are suffering from hardships that we can only begin to imagine, to network with colleagues, and to contribute to the true generosity of our great industry.”
Corporate teams and individuals looking to participate have until April 1 to sign up. Sponsorship commitments are needed by March 22, while toy donations will be accepted through April 1. Contact TTF’s Elizabeth Max (646.520.4851) for more information.
Play Your Part events are also held in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston. TTF’s annual Play Your Part LA will be held in June. Event details will be announced soon.
