May 19, 2026 | The Toy Foundation™ (TTF) was proud to support Giving Friends’ annual Spring Fling Giveaway, hosted in partnership with Pelham Bay Little League last month. The distribution event gave toys and other essential items to Bronx, New York-area children and families in need.
This year’s Spring Fling Giveaway drew a crowd of over 2,500 families, with some arriving hours before the distribution began. As families entered, they were eager and grateful to pick up a variety of toys, including Squishmallows and TeeTurtle reversible plushies, LEGO construction sets, and board games, plus clothing and toiletries.
“The donated toys from The Toy Foundation play a meaningful role in making the day feel magical,” said Lynne Corry, founder of Giving Friends. “Families keep coming back because they know they will find quality toys that their children will truly play with and love.”
Giving Friends is a long-standing Bronx-based community organization that delivers gifts and necessities to vulnerable families in underserved communities in New York City. The nonprofit became a trusted partner of TTF’s Toy Chest in 2022, receiving a variety of toys quarterly to distribute through events such as the Spring Fling Giveaway.
The Toy Chest is the only industry-wide giving initiative that distributes companies’ toy donations to hundreds of schools, hospitals, and community organizations worldwide, quickly and at scale, to reach children in need. Vetted and approved nonprofit partners can pick up toys appropriate for the communities they serve at no cost to the organization. Since 2003, the program has comforted more than 37 million children with the power of play.
“The Toy Foundation is honored to support events like the Spring Fling Giveaway, where the power of play goes far beyond the toy itself to bring comfort and joy to children who need it most,” said Pam Mastrota, executive director of TTF.
The industry’s toy donations enable TTF to partner with more nonprofit organizations and comfort more children with the power of play.
