The Toy Association™ wrapped up its fifth annual Toy Safety Awareness Month, putting a spotlight on safe play at the height of the holiday shopping season. The consumer education campaign, which took place throughout November, reached parents, caregivers, grandparents, and other gift givers to educate them on the importance of making informed toy choices for safe and joyful play.

The Toy Association engaged consumers through social media by sharing toy safety tips on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram using the official hashtags #ToySafetyAwarenessMonth and #PlaySafe. The content addressed critical topics like avoiding counterfeit toys and following age recommendations on toy packaging. A suite of sharable infographics, including a “Toy Shopping Checklist” and “Understanding Age Labels,” and a video on Toy Safety 365 Days a Year, were also shared.

Toy Safety Awareness Month messaging was further reinforced through a timely Cyber Monday press release highlighting findings from a Toy Association toy safety study that examined products purchased from Shein and Temu, which found that 89% of toys the Association purchased from these platforms were unsafe. The release reached a combined audience of 97.8 million, reinforcing the importance of purchasing toys from trusted brands and retailers that adhere to more than 100 strict federal safety laws and tests.

In total, The Toy Association’s Toy Safety Awareness Month garnered 290 million media impressions nationwide, through earned media, consumer-facing articles, a satellite media tour, and an influencer campaign.
