Time is Running Out! CPSC eFiling Begins July 8: Resources Available for Toy Companies

As previously reported, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) mandatory eFiling framework will take effect on July 8, 2026, introducing new electronic compliance data submission requirements for all imported products subject to CPSC rules, bans, standards, and regulations.

With only a month to go until implementation, toy companies are strongly encouraged to have the necessary systems, processes, and data management practices in place in advance to comply with the new requirements. Despite concerns raised, including system readiness to immediately handle all shipments, CPSC has indicated that it plans to keep to the planned deadline for all covered product categories. The Toy Association continues to monitor the situation and urges companies to engage now to avoid potential bottlenecks or import delays.

This preparation is critical for companies to align their internal systems with the new framework, as well as to prepare for coordination with their business partners, such as retailers, customs brokers, and other importers of record, who will also need access to the certification information.

To help members prepare, the following resources are available and include up-to-the-minute information:

  • Toy Association eFiling Guidance Document — This resource for members outlines key requirements and recommended steps for compliance planning. Members may reach out to Jos Huxley, senior vice president of technical affairs at The Toy Association, to receive the document or with any eFiling questions.

  • CPSC eFiling Information — Access an extensive library of information about the Product Registry, FAQs, and technical guidance directly from the CPSC.

  • Recorded Webinars — Watch the latest from the “3, 2, 1, Go! eFiling Webinar” CPSC webinar series for the latest updates on eFiling. A new edition will be added in early June.

Members are encouraged to reach out to Jos Huxley, senior vice president of technical affairs at The Toy Association, with any questions.
