The Toy Association™ has announced that Peter Feldman, acting chair of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), will be the keynote speaker at the “Toy Safety & Legislative Update” during Toy Fair®. The toy safety seminar will take place on Monday, February 16 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in Hall 1D at the Javits Center in New York City, and is open to all Toy Fair attendees.
Feldman’s keynote address is expected to highlight topics pertinent to the toy industry, including 2026 agency priorities, enhanced oversight (especially in online marketplaces), and the rollout of eFiling this year. The acting chair's remarks will kick off a key part of the seminar’s agenda focusing on regulator priorities, followed by a presentation featuring two officials from Health Canada on “Ensuring Safety under the Canadian Consumer Product Safety Act.” A dedicated presentation on the developing European Toy Safety Regulation will follow.
Following these regulatory updates, Toy Association staff will present a 2026 Industry Outlook, including key legislative developments at both the state and federal levels, international regulatory priorities, and an update on the Association’s ongoing advocacy against tariffs on toys.
“The Toy Association is committed to bringing timely, expert-led programming to Toy Fair that supports informed dialogue on toy safety and compliance,” said Kathrin Belliveau, chief policy officer at The Toy Association. “Acting Chair Feldman will provide valuable insight as the industry navigates an evolving toy safety landscape, and hearing from Health Canada gives attendees a broader view of U.S. and international policy priorities, including how safety requirements compare across borders and what that means for global compliance. We look forward to welcoming these esteemed speakers to Toy Fair and showcasing how our members put safety into practice every day.”
