2019 TOTY Finalists Promoted Nationwide by The Toy Association
December 18, 2018 | Toy Association staff and key online influencers have been hard at work promoting this year’s finalists for the 2019 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards.
Since announcing the 123 TOTY finalists on November 12, The Toy Association has been promoting the finalists as the “must-have toys” of the holidays in broadcast TV segments across the country, including major markets like Austin, Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, Orlando, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
This year, TOTY finalists were revealed and unboxed by top toy and game online influencers, including Mommy’s World, That YouTub3 Family, and Family Fun Pack. Each influencer showcased toys from one of the 17 TOTY categories; they are also encouraging followers to vote for their favorites at ToyAwards.org. The efforts resulted in 52.6 million online and social media impressions, doubling last year’s results.
Consumers of all ages are being encouraged to vote for their TOTY favorites at ToyAwards.org through January 6. To date, more than 62,000 votes have been cast by the public.
Winners in each category, as well as the People’s Choice Award (determined solely by consumer votes) and the overall Toy of the Year Award, will be announced at an industry gala on February 15.
“TOTY finalists have been a key focus for Toy Association staff as we look for additional ways to promote our members’ innovative products – especially during the busy holiday selling season,” said Ken Seiter, The Toy Association’s executive vice president of marketing communications.
Toy companies that would like to promote their own TOTY finalists using social media assets, including TOTY-branded images and copy for posts, can find information online at ToyAwards.org/Press.
In addition to recognizing the best toys, games, and properties in the marketplace, The TOTY Awards program and ceremony is a critical fundraiser for The Toy Foundation (TTF). To date, TTF has provided $200 million in toys to more than 25 million children in need around the globe thanks to generous donations made by manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and licensors to its signature program, The Toy Bank.
