Toy Association Hosts Successful Game Night for State Legislators

North Dakota State Capitol Game NightApril 23, 2019 | The Toy Association hosted a fun-filled game night at the North Dakota State Capitol in Bismarck, ND on April 10, bringing together 80 legislators and staff from both sides of the aisle for a successful team-building event. The evening highlighted the playful nature of The Toy Association and the toy industry, as well as the skill-building fun that games bring people of all ages.

“Our inaugural game night with state legislators was a huge success,” said Mindy Baker, director of state government affairs at The Toy Association. “It was a great way for everyone to get to know each other a bit better and have some fun during what is traditionally a very busy and stressful time in the legislative session. It was also a fantastic way for legislators to get to know The Toy Association and recognize the value of play!”

Games played during the evening highlighted various skills, including strategic thinking, dexterity, and creativity. All 30 games were provided by Toy Association members; following the event, the toys were donated to North Dakota Youth Works, a local charity dedicated to helping at-risk children and the Air Force Base Library in Minot, ND.

“This was such a great way to learn teamwork and build bridges across the aisles, and chambers, in a fun way!” said Representative Shannon Roers Jones. “In fact, we may see if we can work some more game nights into our pre-legislative session trainings.”

The Toy Association thanks the following members for their donations: Thames & Kosmos, Calliope Games, CGE, Fireside Games, Alderac Entertainment Group, Getta1Games, IELLO, Mattel, The OP, Professor Puzzle, Scentco, US Playing Card Company, and Smirk & Laughter.
