Remembering PlayMonster’s Rich Rooney

shipping containersApril 3, 2024 | The Toy Association™ and its members mourn the recent passing of Richard (Rich) Rooney, chief operations and logistics officer at PlayMonster. He died unexpectedly on March 27 at the age of 53.

Rooney was a toy industry veteran and held several supply chain management and operations roles over the years at Hasbro, Zizzle, Ridemakerz, and, most recently, at PlayMonster.

“Rich joined PlayMonster a few years ago and made an immediate impact during his tenure thanks to his unique talents, passion, and unwavering commitment to every project,” the company shared in a post on LinkedIn. “Yet, it was his infectious smile, quick wit, and overall warm nature that won over the hearts of many, and that we, his PlayMonster family, will continue to cherish. He touched the lives of everyone he encountered, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the profound impact Rich had on our lives, our company, and the toy industry as a whole.”

Rooney is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years Erika, son Connell John, daughter Colleen Erin, parents James and Nancy, sister Erin, brothers Jim and John, sister-in-law Ursula, and mother-in-law Anna.
