Toy Fair New York Brings Global Toy & Play Community Together for Four Days of Fun!

The global toy and play community came together in New York City for The Toy Association’s 116th North American International Toy Fair. In all, more than 26,000 professionals from 98 countries attended the largest toy trade show in the Western Hemisphere, where they got a sneak peek at hundreds of thousands of ground-breaking and creative toys and games spread out across 447,300 net square feet of exhibit space. The show hosted the equivalent of nearly eight football fields filled with toys during its four-day run from February 16, to Tuesday, February 19, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

 
The Toy Association Elects New Board Members at Annual General Meeting

The Toy Association announced the election of four new members to its Board of Directors for two-year terms expiring in February 2021, during the Association’s Annual General Meeting, earlier today. The meeting was open to all members of the organization and took place during Toy Fair New York at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City.

This morning, the 116th North American International Toy Fair opened its doors at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City to more than 30,000 global play professionals, who made the trip to New York City to view hundreds of thousands of ground-breaking and creative toys and games that will be available in time for Holiday ’19.

 
L.O.L Surprise! by MGA Entertainment Wins Prestigious “Toy of the Year” Award

Top toys and games as well as three legendary individuals from the toy and entertainment industries were honored this evening at the 19th annual Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards and Toy Industry Hall of Fame induction ceremony. More than 700 toy, play, and youth entertainment industry executives attended the sold out event, which took place at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City. Proceeds from the awards program and event supported The Toy Foundation’s charitable work to bring toys to millions of children in need.

New Toy Association Report Exposes Factors Contributing to the Rise in Counterfeit Toys Online

It’s a scene from any parent’s worst nightmare. Just last month, a child received a gift of what looked to be a popular magnetic toy set that comes in various rainbow-colored shapes and encourage kids to build and create. But in fact, the toy was an illicit product sold by a third-party vendor via a popular ecommerce site, and did not comply with the strict safety standards and regulations that toys are subject to in the United States. As a result, an unknowing consumer was able to purchase the set, and the four-year-old was able to easily break apart the toys to ingest more than a dozen magnets, causing a life threatening situation.

CPSC Expands Toy Safety Collaboration Efforts with Retail, Toy Industries & Safe Kids

Today, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), Safe Kids Worldwide, and The Toy Association are joining together to promote toy safety and smart purchasing practices for parents, grandparents, and loved ones this holiday season. The groups are collaborating to provide consumer guidance and Toy Safety Shopping Tips to help elevate consumer toy safety awareness during the year’s busiest shopping season.

New National Survey Finds Parents Don’t Always Follow Important Toy Safety Guidelines

A new national survey of toy-purchasing parents revealed some concerning behaviors involving their approach to toy safety. The survey, conducted by Wakefield Research on behalf of The Toy Association, found that 41 percent of parents don’t always read the age label on a toy before purchasing it, and for those who do check, 94 percent admitted they still purchased a toy even when the age label indicated their child was too young to play with it.
