According to a new study, “STEM/STEAM Formula for Success,” released today by The Toy Association, great STEM/STEAM (with the “A” representing arts) toys encourage open-ended play and trial-and-error exploration, teach problem-solving, and allow children to lead the play experience, among other attributes.

 
America’s Toy Community Says Trump’s Tariffs Will Hurt Families, Jobs, & Businesses

The Toy Association – the not-for-profit trade association representing the toy, game, and youth entertainment product businesses that drive the annual $28 billion American toy market and are leaders around the world – announced today that the Trump administration’s proposed 25 percent tariffs on $300 billion in Chinese imports, including children’s toys, would irreparably harm American families, jobs, and businesses.

Ready … Set … PLAY! Local Toy Companies & Volunteers Bring Toys and Smiles to South Florida Kids

“Play Your Part,” a nationwide philanthropic event series hosted by The Toy Foundation (TTF), made its way to South Florida today, bringing brand-new toys and games to more than 250 children in need. Held in partnership with Junior Achievement South Florida at its Coconut Creek headquarters, the fun-filled day of play was made possible by local toy company volunteers and thousands of toy donations from manufacturers, retailers, and distributors to TTF’s Toy Bank.

 
The Genius of Play Launches “Prescription for Play“ PSA

The Genius of Play, a nonprofit initiative dedicated to raising awareness of play's vital role in child development, today launched its new public service announcement (PSA) titled “Prescription for Play.” The campaign is aimed at reminding parents that play is critical to raising healthy and happy children. Toy Fair New York Brings Global Toy & Play Community Together for Four Days of Fun!

The global toy and play community came together in New York City for The Toy Association’s 116th North American International Toy Fair. In all, more than 26,000 professionals from 98 countries attended the largest toy trade show in the Western Hemisphere, where they got a sneak peek at hundreds of thousands of ground-breaking and creative toys and games spread out across 447,300 net square feet of exhibit space. The show hosted the equivalent of nearly eight football fields filled with toys during its four-day run from February 16, to Tuesday, February 19, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

L.O.L Surprise! by MGA Entertainment Wins Prestigious “Toy of the Year” Award

Top toys and games as well as three legendary individuals from the toy and entertainment industries were honored this evening at the 19th annual Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards and Toy Industry Hall of Fame induction ceremony. More than 700 toy, play, and youth entertainment industry executives attended the sold out event, which took place at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City. Proceeds from the awards program and event supported The Toy Foundation’s charitable work to bring toys to millions of children in need.

New Toy Association Report Exposes Factors Contributing to the Rise in Counterfeit Toys Online

It’s a scene from any parent’s worst nightmare. Just last month, a child received a gift of what looked to be a popular magnetic toy set that comes in various rainbow-colored shapes and encourage kids to build and create. But in fact, the toy was an illicit product sold by a third-party vendor via a popular ecommerce site, and did not comply with the strict safety standards and regulations that toys are subject to in the United States. As a result, an unknowing consumer was able to purchase the set, and the four-year-old was able to easily break apart the toys to ingest more than a dozen magnets, causing a life threatening situation.
