Third Annual Play Fair to Debut in Portland September 7-9, 2018

The 3rd Annual Play Fair, hosted by The Toy Association and LeftField Media, is taking the show on the road to Portland, OR this fall. Play Fair PDX, a public celebration of play and entertainment for all ages, will be held alongside Rose City Comic Con from September 7 to 9, 2018. More than 10,000 families are expected to attend an action-packed weekend of play in 30,000+ square feet of space.

 
Local Toy Company Volunteers Bring Toys & Smiles to Kids in Need

Chicago area children living in foster care received brand-new toys and games today from local toy company volunteers at a fun-filled “Play Your Part” event hosted by The Toy Foundation (TTF), the philanthropic arm of the North American toy industry, in partnership with CASA of Cook County, a not-for-profit organization that provides a voice in the courtroom for children who have experienced abuse and neglect.

 
Fall Toy Preview 2018 Promises to be a Game Changer

In just the first month since attendee registration opened for Fall Toy Preview 2018, the industry’s premier fall marketplace for mass, long-lead, and specialty buyers has seen a 23 percent surge in registered retailers compared to the same period last year. Show organizers are optimistic that registration numbers will continue to rise as the October 2 to 4 show in Dallas, TX draws near.

A panel of experts recently convened by The Genius of Play and the Smithsonian's Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation in Washington, DC explored how can we raise children to become competitive in the international arena and promote invention and innovation. Findings from the panel are included in a new report that is now available: ”Raising a Generation of Inventors: How Play Fosters Creativity and Innovative Thinking in Children.”

115th North American International Toy Fair Dazzles Global Play Professionals & Toy Lovers

The vibrant global toy and play community descended upon New York City last week for The Toy Association’s 115th North American International Toy Fair. In all, 26,236 professionals attended the largest toy show in the Western Hemisphere, where they got a sneak peek at hundreds of thousands of cutting-edge toys and games shown across 442,700 net square feet of exhibit space – the equivalent of about seven football fields filled with toys. The show was held Saturday, February 17 to Tuesday, February 20 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

The Toy Association Elects New Leadership at Annual General Meeting

At its Annual General Meeting open to all Toy Association member representatives held earlier today, The Toy Association announced the election of five new members to its Board of Directors for two-year terms expiring in February 2020. The meeting also saw the chairmanship gavel pass to Bob Wann, Chief Play Monster of PlayMonster, LLC, from retiring board chairman David Hargreaves of Hasbro, Inc. The meeting was held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center during the 115th North American International Toy Fair.
