LeapFrog Enterprises to be Acquired by VTech for $72 million

February 5, 2016 | VTech Holdings Limited will acquire LeapFrog Enterprises for approximately $72 million, in a deal announced earlier today. The Chinese electronic learning products and cordless phone leader will purchase 100 percent of LeapFrog’s outstanding common stock in the all-cash deal. The tender offer is expected to commence in early March, and both boards of directors reportedly approved the transaction unanimously.

Bill Chiasson, the chairman of LeapFrog's board of directors described the acquisition as “instrumental to helping the LeapFrog brand achieve the mission of helping each child achieve their potential,” while also rewarding shareholders “with a significant premium from recent trading levels.”

California-based LeapFrog’s brand will join VTech’s portfolio of children’s products, among which is the 2015 Infant/Toddler Toy of the Year Award-winning Go! Go! Smart Animals Zoo Explorers Playset.
