Reminder: Chemicals Reporting Deadline for Children’s Products Sold in Washington State
January 9, 2019 | The Toy Association is reminding companies that do business in Washington state that the next deadline for reporting chemicals in children's products is January 31.
Under Washington State “Children’s Safe Products Act” (CSPA), manufacturers are required to report on an annual basis if their children's products contain any chemicals included on the list of Chemicals of High Concern to Children. In 2017, the state added another 22 chemicals to the list, bringing the total to more than 85 chemicals required to be reported. The upcoming deadline affects any children’s products sold between September 1, 2017 and December 31, 2018.
Companies may refer to Washington State’s Department of Ecology's Reporting Guidance page for more detailed information.
Members with questions may contact Jennifer Gibbons, vice president of state government affairs at The Toy Association.
