play-creators-awards-winners-2020September 11, 2020 | The winners of Mojo Nation’s Play Creators Awards were revealed today during the first-ever virtual Play Creators Festival. Prizes for the awards program, which celebrates the achievements of the toy and game designer community, were presented across 9 categories.

The Toy Association’s Creative Factor sponsored this year’s Play Creators Festival, as well as the Play Creators Award for Toy Designer of the Year, which was awarded to Seven Towns for Hexbug’s Junk Bots. Other 2020 winners included Spin Master, Golden Bear and Big Potato Games, while Heayes Design’s Richard Heayes took home the Design Icon Award. The full list of winners is available online.

“To know that [you’ve won] because your peers have voted for you is a real honor,” said Heayes. “This business is creativity tough. We are competing with thousands of new products every year and margins can be tight. But there is always positive energy to be found. The endless creativity on show I think raises us all to be better at what we do and to realize that to bring fun and happiness to the world we need to live by those principles as a collective.”

Marian Bossard, executive vice president of global market events at The Toy Association, added: “The second annual Play Creators Festival certainly looked a bit different this year yet the passion and talent of all those who participated in panel discussions and shared their insights resonated through the screen. The Toy Association is thrilled to continue to collaborate with Mojo Nation on programming that not only aligns with the overall mission of the Association’s Creative Factor brand but fosters growth and opportunities for toy inventors and designers worldwide.”
