bill-nye-at-toyfairNovember 16, 2021 | Toy Fair New York organizers have announced that Bill Nye, popularly known as “The Science Guy,” will help cut the ribbon to kick off Toy Fair New York on Saturday, February 19, 2022.

"Best known for his decades of work in making science entertaining and accessible for kids of all ages, Nye will bring an added element of excitement to the much-anticipated opening ceremony for Toy Fair New York '22!" said Kimberly Carcone, senior vice president of global market events at The Toy Association. "After nearly two years apart, we can’t wait to see the global toy industry again at the largest toy show in the Western Hemisphere, where we are expecting attendees from 33 countries and hundreds of thousands of toys and games across the newly renovated and expanded Javits Center!"

The ribbon-cutting will take place at 9 a.m. at the Crystal Palace 3B Entrance of the Javits Center. Following the show opening, Nye will join Abacus Brands on the show floor. Nye partnered with Abacus Brands in 2021 to create Bill Nye’s VR Science and Space Lab kits, which combine AR/VR experiences with hands-on experiments intended to capture Nye’s spirit and "the joy of discovery" through science and entertainment.

Abacus Brands CEO Steve Rad said of working with Nye: “We saw an opportunity amidst a pandemic to unlock Bill’s personality and deliver him directly to the consumer by combining virtual reality and tangible experiments in a comprehensive and nostalgic science kit that was not only educational, but fun and engaging.”

Carcone added: “Having celebrity guests like Nye and others at Toy Fair speaks to the show’s growing status as much more than a toy show but also a pop culture and entertainment destination for trend-spotting. You’ll just have to stay tuned to see who else shows up on the show floor in February!”
