Toy Association Promotes Genius of Play, Toy Trends at ACD Games Day

May 24, 2019 | The Toy Association spread awareness about the hottest toy trends and The Genius of Play in front of several hundred toy and hobby retailers and distributors attending ACD Games Day 2019. The trade show took place last week at the Monona Convention Center in Madison, WI.

During a session titled, “Toys, Trends, and The Genius of Play,” The Toy Association’s Ken Seiter, executive vice president of marketing communications, educated attendees about The Genius of Play, the Association’s consumer initiative to encourage more play in children’s lives. Seiter shared how different types of play, such as outdoor play, arts and crafts, and role-play, foster a variety of skills, and how retailers can use The Genius of Play’s assets, including research, play ideas, social media posts, signage, and display merchandising to engage fans and customers in stores and beyond. Adrienne Appell, senior director of strategic communications, presented this year’s hottest toy trends for store owners to stay on top of what is driving consumer spending at retail.

At The Toy Association’s booth, attendees received additional information on toy trends and The Genius of Play and learned about the Association’s initiatives, including its work to advocate against the proposed tariffs on toys imported from China.

“Connecting with retailers and distributors at the ACD Games Day was another example of the Association’s efforts to communicate the importance of play to a variety of audiences,” Seiter said. “We continue to seek opportunities to share messages about all the great things The Toy Association is working on to support our members and the entire toy community.”
