New Toy Association Preview Day: Connect with Meijer Buyers on October 23

The Midwest Supercenter Chain is Seeking Products from a Wide Diversity of Business Ownership

September 22, 2020 | As part of its commitment to helping members succeed, The Toy Association has announced that it will host a virtual product preview day on October 23 to connect toy companies with buyers from Midwest supercenter chain Meijer. Companies not currently selling to Meijer’s roughly 250+ stores are invited to apply for this exclusive opportunity by October 1. An application link will be sent via email to all Toy Association members and past tradeshow exhibitors on Thursday (September 24).

This marks the third Toy Association preview day slated for October; virtual previews will also be held with buyers from Target and TRU Canada. Priority for each of these opportunities is given to Toy Association members.

Meijer has indicated that it is interested in receiving applications from diverse businesses, including those owned by African Americans, American Indians, Asian/Pacific Americans, veteran and disabled individuals, Hispanic and Latino Americans, LGBTQ+ persons, and women. Aside from an interest in diversity, the retailer is seeking a range of playthings, including seasonal toys & games, STEM/STEAM products, puzzles, preschool toys, board games, and more.

“In-person events might be canceled for the foreseeable future, but businesses must be able to forge ahead, which is why The Toy Association is pleased to create yet another opportunity for toy companies to get their products in front of influential buyers,” said Marian Bossard, executive vice president of global market events at The Toy Association.

The submission period for the Meijer product preview day closes October 1. Those who are selected by Meijer will be notified directly and required to pay a $500 fee to participate. All preview sessions will take place via Zoom on October 23; details on how the day will unfold will be shared in the coming weeks.

This opportunity is an example of The Toy Association’s ongoing work to provide members with access and opportunities to help them grow in the U.S. and abroad. For more information about The Toy Association’s resources and initiatives, visit www.ToyAssociation.org.
