New Opportunity to Meet with Urban Outfitters Buyers

urban-outfitters-storefrontMarch 8, 2021 | After a successful product preview day with Urban Outfitters in December that resulted in multiple vendor connections, The Toy Association has announced a second virtual private preview with the retailer on April 15. The application deadline is Monday, March 15 at 5 p.m. (Eastern).

“We are pleased to announce this second opportunity for toymakers to connect with Urban Outfitters buyers, following the resounding success of our first preview day with the lifestyle retail chain,” said Tim Knock, director of event marketing at The Toy Association. “To date, The Toy Association has received nearly 500 submissions from toymakers for product previews with leading retailers including ALDI, Claire’s, Family Dollar, Meijer, QxH (QVC/HSN), Spencer’s, Target, and Toys"R"Us Canada. Others have reported similar stellar results and have also hinted at hosting additional rounds of previews via The Toy Association to forge additional connections with our members.”

Urban Outfitters is looking to meet with toymakers in the following categories: advent calendars, DIY, black-owned tech brands, toy gift sets, impulse items, licensed products, outdoor, plush (including heatable plush), and more (see complete list of categories). Buyers are also looking for companies with the ability to make exclusive product.

This is an open call for any toy company not currently selling to Urban Outfitters. Sellers who previously applied for the retailer’s 2020 private preview may re-apply for consideration.

Once the submission period closes on March 15, Urban Outfitters will review all applicants. Selected companies will be notified by The Toy Association by March 29 and will be required to pay a participation fee. If multiple products are chosen by the retailer for separate meetings, multiple participation fees will apply. Prior to the private preview meetings on April 15, a live Zoom pitch prep session will be hosted by The Toy Association on April 12.
